Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index Declines Again
| The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index, which had declined in May, fell further in June. The index now stands at 62.0 (1985=100), down from 64.4 in May. The Expectations Index declined to 72.3 from 77.3. The Present Situation Index, however, increased to 46.6 from 44.9 last month. Read more>>

Rural Mainstreet Economic Growth Slows
| The Rural Mainstreet Index for June slumped to its lowest level in 2012. The Rural Mainstreet Index, which ranges between 0 and 100 with 50 representing growth neutral, declined to 56.7, its lowest level since October of last year, and was down from last month's 58.5. Dale Bradley, CEO of Citizens State Bank in Miltonvale, Kan., said, "International economic problems are affecting us here (Rural Mainstreet economy)." Read more>>

Credit Rating Downgrade Highlights Danger of Banking Concentration
| The credit rating downgrade of 15 of the largest global financial firms demonstrates the danger of excessive concentration in the banking industry, the Independent Community Bankers of America announced.
