Bill Poquette’s career at BankNews Media spans more than 38 years as managing editor, editor and editor-in chief. He joined BankNews’ predecessor company, Financial Publications Inc., in 1969, after experience in corporate public relations with the Valvoline Oil Co. division of Ashland Oil Inc., in Ashland, Ky., and editorial positions with a St. Louis publisher of business magazines and newsletters.

Currently serving as editor-in-chief, he is responsible for all editorial planning and content for BankNews magazine, BankNews Mid-Week and The Bank Board Letter, in addition to supervising editorial staff involved with the company’s Contract Publishing division.

Bill's observations and insights based on almost four decades of walking in their midst at state, regional and national conventions and conferences, plus interviews in their banks, give BankNews its unique character and loyal readership.

After growing up in northern Michigan, Bill attended Wayne State University in Detroit, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English composition. College was followed by a brief military career — 28 months in the U.S. Army.

He and his wife, Diana, live in Kansas City, Kan. They have three grown children and six grandchildren. Bill’s hobbies are landscape and nature photography, travel and golf.
