
The Community First Award recognizes a community bank that demonstrates an outstanding achievement in helping the community. The award includes activities, programs and projects focused on the community (or communities) served by the bank. Among the specific achievements are:
- Active support for or involvement with LEED for Neighborhood Development.
- Participation in a public-private partnership or a financial role in a community redevelopment or revitalization project (e.g., the restoration of historic or existing buildings, brownfield remediation, development of community park, wetland restoration, etc.).
- Active participation in state or regional organizations with a focus on community or neighborhood programs.
- Commitment to “socially responsible” lending.
- Policies and/or incentives designed to encourage involvement in local or community programs or projects by the bank’s staff, such as a Corporate Giving Program.
- Active civic role in local organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life and/or economic growth.
Fees and Deadlines
There are no fees to enter the 2010 Western Banking Community First Awards. The deadline for entries has been extended to August 20, 2010.
