Feature Articles
Feature articles are provided primarily by bankers, consultants, attorneys, academics and suppliers to the industry. Freelance work generally is accepted only upon assignment.
Contributors are encouraged to query the editor before submitting editorial, although this is not a requirement. An outline, abstract, or informal description of the article are all acceptable formats for the query. A brief author bio is recommended. Feature articles should be 750 to 1,500 words in length.
Topics should focus on the interest of Western Banking's readers, who include CEOs and other top executives of community banks with assets up to $2 billion — not the likes of JP Morgan Chase and Bank of America. Recommended subjects include management and operations; business development; technology and e-banking; marketing and public relations; customer relations; consumer lending; security; human resources, and trends.
Send a Microsoft Word document on CD along with a clean hard copy to Western Banking, P.O. Box 29156, Shawnee Mission, KS 66201-9156, or email Kari Taylor, associate editor.
Deadline for final editorial material is the first of the month two months preceding the issue date (e.g., March 1 for the May-June issue).
Product and Service Announcements
Product and service announcements are reviewed and designated for a particular department (i.e., marketing, human resources, technology solutions, etc.). If an announcement is of special interest, editors may ask for more information for broader treatment.
The editor prefers that announcements and press releases be sent via email, either within the body of the email message or as an attached Microsoft Word document. Send an email to Kari Taylor.
If mailed, send to Western Banking, P.O. Box 29156, Shawnee Mission, KS 66201-9156.
Artwork
Art/graphics to illustrate articles is appreciated. Digital photos/art should be JPG or TIFF files, 300 dpi at 8” x 10”. No headshots of authors please. For charts or graphs, please send native Illustrator files or Excel files with data included.

All published contributions become the property of Western Banking and BankNews Publications and may be reproduced again at any future time in print, electronic or other format at the discretion of the publisher.
