Open Solutions tMagic Teller Capture

Open Solutions’ tMagic Teller Capture platform, jointly developed with Bluepoint Solutions, is fully integrated with Open Solutions’ enterprise-wide core processing technology, allowing tellers to capture checks in real time at the point-of-presentment– at the teller line. When a teller receives checks, he or she will scan the items into the system by selecting the “Scan” button in Open Solutions’ Transaction Express.  This buttons invokes a call to tMagic and the MICR is read and CAR/LAR technology is used to determine the amount of each it item. That information then populates the TE screen. If an item could not be read or the teller is out of balance, a new screen pops up that looks like the core screens the tellers are familiar with. The item is then corrected and the transaction is balanced. The teller then selects the “Process” button in Transaction Express to commit the transaction to the database. When all the items are read successfully, it only takes two mouse clicks to complete a transaction.  This significant reduction in keystrokes enables tellers to balance cash drawers more rapidly and with fewer errors.

tMagic captures both the front and back of checks, automatically detecting the courtesy amount, legal amount, MICR line and presence of a signature and date. If any data is questionable or missing, tMagic immediately alerts the teller. As a result, tellers can correct or reject information with the customer still present.

3. Processing and Balancing
After the core system accepts a transaction, the receipt data is used to ensure the core system and scanned items are in balance. Items are then made available for image cash letter generation and archiving. Having the ability to balance each transaction set enables tellers to shorten end-of-day closeout.

4. Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
Should a teller scanner go down, others are available to ensure continuous workflow. By capturing check images at the teller line, the need to manually index documents is eliminated and information is available enterprise-wide, allowing for secure disaster recovery. tMagic Teller Capture protects against business interruption with a “store and forward” capability. With “store and forward,” information is immediately stored and can then be forwarded, allowing you to save time if a server malfunctions and avoid lengthy backup and recovery procedures.

5. Transaction Integrity
When items are captured at the point-of-presentment, they remain together to ensure transaction integrity. Each check is uniquely identifiable and digitally stapled to a transaction identifier. This identifier can be virtually endorsed on the item at the time of scanning to establish an audit trail.
