Alaska

Climate Change in Alaska – The Climate Change in Alaska project is a scientific study of Alaskan responses to global warming.

Water Resources Program, Alaska Dept. of Natural Resources – In Alaska's Constitution, water was declared a public resource belonging to the people of the state to be managed by the state for maximum benefit to the public. All surface and subsurface waters on all lands in Alaska are reserved to the people for common use and are subject to appropriation in accordance with the Alaska Water Use Act. The Water Resources Section adjudicates water rights, provides technical hydrologic support and assures dam safety. 

Arizona

Arizona Climate Action Initiative – Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano established the Arizona Climate Change Advisory Group in 2005 to focus on the profound implications that global warming and climate variation could have on the economy, environment and quality of life in the desert Southwest,

Water Resources Research Center – The University of Arizona’s WRRC promotes understanding of critical state and regional water management and policy issues through research, community outreach and public education.

Arkansas

Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality – The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality is an agency of the state of Arkansas, headquartered in North Little Rock with office throughout the state. The agency strives to protect Arkansas’ priceless natural resources – its air, water and land – from the threat of pollution. It accomplishes this in a variety of ways: regulatory programs, proactive programs and educational activities

Arkansas Environmental Federation – Founded in 1967, the Arkansas Environmental Federation is a 501c(3) non-profit education association with more than 350 members, the vast majority of them businesses and industries that deal with environmental, safety, and health regulations on a day-to-day basis. The AEF focuses on practical, common-sense laws and regulations based on sound science; a teamwork approach to compliance; and waste minimization and pollution prevention. The AEF enables information to be exchanged on a daily basis between its members, government regulators and policy makers.

Arkansas Center for Environmental Studies – The EPA has funded the Arkansas Center of Environmental Studies. The mission of the Center is to support and promote the competitiveness of environmental science and engineering research in the state of Arkansas. This goal will be addressed by providing an open line of communication among environmental scientists in the state.

California

California Climate Action Registry – The California Climate Action Registry is a private non-profit organization originally formed by the State of California. The California Registry provides leadership on climate change by developing and promoting credible, accurate, and consistent GHG reporting standards and tools for organizations to measure, monitor, third-party verify and reduce their GHG emissions consistently across industry sectors and geographical borders.

California Climate Change Portal – This state-sponsored website serves as a clearinghouse for information on the wide range of topics, actions, events and publications related to climate change.

California Farm Water Coalition – The California Farm Water Coalition has identified three primary goals as part of its mission to increase public awareness of agriculture’s use of water and provide a common, unifying voice for agricultural water users: to serve as the voice for agricultural water users; to represent irrigated agriculture in the media; and to educate the public about the benefits of irrigated agriculture.

California Water Environment Association – The CWEA is a not-for-profit association of 8,000-plus professionals in the wastewater industry. It is committed to keeping California's water clean. The association trains and certifies wastewater professionals; disseminates technical information; and promotes sound policies to benefit society through protection and enhancement of our water environment.

Colorado

Colorado Climate Center – The Colorado Climate Center is part of the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University. Its goal is to assist the state of Colorado in monitoring climate over time scales of weeks to years. The site provides links to regional climate centers and to the National Climate Data Center where detailed climate information is provided. Other valuable climate links are also listed as additional data resources.

Colorado Water Conservation Board – The CWCB represents each major water basin, Denver and other state agencies in a joint effort to use water wisely and protect the state’s water for future generations.

Hawaii

Commission on Water Resource Management – The CWRM is associated with Hawaii’s State Department of Land and Natural Resources. The site is an excellent clearinghouse of information on water issues in the state.

Next Generation Earth: Hawaii – The site provides a detailed report on the impact of climate change in Hawaii.

Idaho

Coalition for Idaho Water – The Coalition for Idaho Water is formed from more than 50 groups representing Idaho irrigation, agricultural and business interests, and Idaho cities and counties. The Coalition is united in its determination to safeguard the sovereignty of Idaho's water.

Idaho Ground Water Association – The IGWA assists, promotes, encourages and supports the interests and welfare of the ground water industry within the State of Idaho.

Idaho Rivers United – Idaho Rivers United is a conservation organization representing all who love the freedom, adventure and solitude of Idaho's rivers. Its mission is to protect and restore the rivers of Idaho.

Idaho Rural Water Association – The Idaho Rural Water Association is a non-profit organization that provides training and technical assistance to water and wastewater communities and systems throughout Idaho.

The Nature Conservancy in Idaho – The Nature Conservancy is the leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people. This site covers the work of the Idaho chapter.

Illinois

Illinois Environmental Protection Agency — The mission of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) is to safeguard environmental quality, consistent with the social and economic needs of the state, so as to protect health, welfare, property and the quality of life.

Illinois Environmental Council — The IEC — consisting of the Illinois Environmental Council and the Illinois Environmental Council Education Fund — is the only organization in Illinois focused solely on a broad range of environmental issues across the state. The eyes, ears and voice of the environmental community in Springfield, the Illinois Environmental Council represents groups from around the state on legislation and policies by lobbying and organizing statewide support. Through the IEC Education Fund, the IEC analyzes and communicates news from state government and other important information to the state's environmental community, and acts as a convener for the diverse groups that comprise the Illinois environmental community.

Environment Illinois — Environment Illinois is a statewide, citizen-based environmental advocacy organization. Our professional staff combines independent research, practical ideas and tough-minded advocacy to overcome the opposition of powerful special interests and win real results for Illinois' environment. Iowa

Iowa Department of Natural Resources — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is the government agency that leads Iowans in caring for their natural resources. It is responsible for maintaining state parks and forests, protecting the environment, and managing energy, fish, wildlife, and land and water resources in Iowa.

Iowa Environmental Council — The Iowa Environmental Council is an alliance of diverse organizations and individuals working together to protect Iowa's natural environment. It describes its mission as "A safe, healthy environment and sustainable future for Iowa." The Council focuses on public education and coalition building to give Iowans a voice.
