Jonah Bank Tells Its Story on Fox Business

April 4 - A nine-minute segment on Jonah Bank aired recently on "In View with Larry King" on Fox Business Network. Click here to view the video.

The segment focuses in on the role of community banks in a worldwide banking community that's "too big to fail." In such an atmosphere, the segment's narrator said, "Traditional community banks across the nation are gaining a lot more attention."

The segment is one part in a series on community banks for the television broadcast. A release from Jonah Bank said it was one of 15 community banks selected for the broadcast out of a national pool of 7,000.

According to the release, community banks act as a small-business engine, holding a third of the nation's deposits while making two-thirds of all small business loans.

"The 50 largest banks control 67 percent of the deposits, yet lend to less than 37 percent of the small businesses operating in our country," the release stated.

"Over the last six years we've probably helped create a hundred new businesses here in Wyoming," said President Mark Zaback in the segment. He added that the bank views loans as a partnership.

"If they start a business and fail, we fail too, we're gonna lose money," Zaback said.

Zaback in an email called it a neat opportunity to tell Jonah Bank's story for a national audience. Zaback admits the national audience may have other things going on during the broadcast, and pleaded for support.
