FRED Rolls Out Enhanced Graphing Functionality and Upgraded Apps

Nov 20 - The St. Louis Fed’s signature online database FRED (Federal Reserve Economic Data) has just gotten a whole lot better. In addition to featuring data from 150,000 series from 59 sources, the FRED platform now features a beta version offering a whole suite of new interactive functionality, including:

Menus for editing the FRED Graph have also been streamlined and given a new look, including the ability to make edits directly on the series’ pages. Changes to the graph will now occur automatically, without needing to click a “redraw graph” button.

Additionally, FRED’s free tool kit is also available via two newly improved apps for iPhone and iPad.  The redesigns represent a significant upgrade from previous versions and will feature enhanced menus and navigation options.

The apps will also enable users to subscribe to push notifications alerting them when their favorite or saved data series are updated. Likewise the easy-to-use design will give users the same tools available on the FRED website to add series, while also customizing graphs, from within the apps themselves.

In combination with the raw data, the FRED family, which also includes GeoFRED for mapping and ALFRED for archival data, has produced an unparalleled platform accessed by over two million persons per year from almost every country in the world.

Additional information on the FRED updates can be found at or by contacting the FRED Team at stlsFRED(at) or 314-444-8444.
