Nov 22 - Compliance Education Associates has released one of the banking industry’s first Regulatory Vendor Program Manager certification courses. The course trains the student on GLBA 501(b) third-party oversight requirements and how to build, implement and manage a compliant program and how to prepare for exams and audits.
“Given the continued and growing regulatory focus on third-party oversight, especially with the OCC’s recently released Guidance on the topic, there is a dire need for training and certification in this area of regulatory compliance for financial institutions, for auditors and even examiners,” stated Jeff Kless, director of education. “We have seen numerous interpretations of what a compliant vendor management program should look like in speaking with hundreds of banks and credit unions across the country and reviewing their vendor management programs. In addition, we’ve seen all levels of examiner and auditor knowledge. This course puts everyone on a level playing field. It’s ideal for those tasked with building and managing a program as well as for those tasked with examining and auditing it.”
“This is a comprehensive course which we developed from our 30+ years of experience in financial services, 12+ years focused on GLBA compliance and 8+ years specializing in vendor management,” stated Mick Kless, president of Compliance Education Associates and parent company RISC Associates.
“Given the importance of third-party oversight and the continued regulatory focus on it, financial institutions should have a concrete understanding of what a compliant vendor management program should look like, how to build it, manage it, know what the benefits are and how to properly prepare for an exam and audit. They shouldn’t just be told to read guidance and figure it out. This certification course imparts that knowledge and takes the guess-work out of it. And those who take the course also have us to lean on for advice.”
The Certified Regulatory Vendor Program Manager course is a four to five-hour self-paced course available on a Web-based eLearning platform. Each of the eight sections is followed by a quiz and then a final exam at the end of the course. It qualifies for four CPE credits. The cost is $499 and can be found by contacting your state banking association or directly at www.Compliance-Edu.com.
