OCC to Host Workshop in Los Angeles

Jan 22 - The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency will host a workshop in Los Angeles at the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City, Feb. 10-12, for directors of national community banks and federal savings associations.

“Mastering the Basics: A Director’s Challenge” is a workshop designed exclusively for directors of institutions supervised by the OCC and provides practical information on the roles and responsibilities of board participation. Taught by seasoned OCC supervision staff, the workshop focuses on directors’ duties and core responsibilities, major laws and regulations, board reports and bank ratings.

“The workshop provides a comprehensive overview of how to be an effective board director,” said Rafael DeLeon, national bank examiner and industry analyst. “We also cover key issues affecting banks, such as differentiating between board and management roles, and managing the increasing volume of board information. We believe that active and engaged board members are essential to the effective oversight of an institution and to the stability of the banking system.”

The workshop fee is $99. Participants receive a pre-workshop reading package and course materials, assorted supervisory publications, and a Dictionary of Banking Terms. The workshop is limited to the first 35 registrants.

The workshop is one of 33 being offered nationwide to enhance and expand the skills of national community bank and federal savings association directors. For information, including a complete list of available workshops, or to register for a workshop, visit https://www.seiservices.com/occ/ or call 240-485-1700.
