August 25 – According to Phoenix-Hecht’s recent 2014-1 Postal Survey™, TransCentra, a leading provider of billing and payment software and services, operates lockbox processing facilities in eight of the 15 fastest cities for mail receipt.
TransCentra, which has recently expanded its presence and now operates nine lockbox sites across the U.S., strategically placed its facilities in more than half of the top 15 cities for mail delivery. This allows the company to ensure payments get out of the mail flow as quickly as possible and deposited for customers to access. Phoenix-Hecht’s postal study, completed in May 2014, measured mail from 170 originating cities into 26 destination cities. It identified the fastest cities for mail delivery based on all originating mail to a receiving site or city. According to the results, TransCentra has lockbox sites in the two fastest U.S .cities – Boston and Louisville, as well as six additional sites in the top 15 including Charlotte, N.C., Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and New York City.

The U.S. Postal Service’s consolidation project, which began in 2012, has had a significant impact on mail flow, causing many corporations to take a closer look at their mail receipt locations. A June 30, 2014 U.S. Postal Service announcement indicated that 82 postal locations will be consolidated in 2015, further affecting patterns for remittance mail; however, the locations identified will not affect TransCentra’s print and remit operations. The consolidation will affect the USPS service delivery standards, essentially eliminating overnight delivery for outbound first-class mail. Implementation of destination operations that begin earlier in the day may cause some inbound remittance mail to be delivered sooner than before. Given these changes, TransCentra’s prime locations for lockbox processing will continue to optimize remittance processing for its customers.
