April 6 — Securities America, La Vista, Neb., has launched “Link to the Future,” a scholarship program that seeks to inspire current advisors’ college-age daughters and sons, as well as other finance-oriented university students, to pursue careers in the financial advice industry. The program will enable recipients to attend the firm’s Connect National Conference in New Orleans from June 3-6.
Thirty college juniors and seniors will be selected to attend the Connect Conference with all conference expenses, meals and hotel accommodations covered. Travel stipends may also be available if necessary. Scholarship recipients will have opportunities to network with financial advisors, attend general sessions, and take part in a specifically-designed curriculum of breakout sessions and workshops developed to help inspire and inform their careers. Sessions will focus on the basics of financial planning, FINRA exams, resume building, interview best practices and career paths.
Additionally, each scholarship attendee will be paired with an individual advisor whom them will shadow The applicant pool will be made up of children of current advisors and New Orleans area college students.

“And for sons and daughters of current advisors,” she continued, “we believe that Link to the Future will provide the perfect catalyst to help them join the industry, so that they can take the reins when the time comes and build successful, truly multi-generational family businesses.”
Scholarship winners will be chosen by the end of the month, with preference given to applicants studying business and/or finance.
